Michael Owen is a Florida attorney and public servant whose career bridges the fields of law and public service. Mr. Owen was raised in Brandon, Florida, and currently resides in Apollo Beach, Florida. He pursued higher education at Saint Leo University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999 and played baseball on a baseball scholarship at St. Leo. Driven by a deep interest in law and public service, he went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Mr. Owen is licensed to practice in the Middle District of Florida in Federal Court.

Upon passing the Florida Bar, Owen launched his legal career with a focus on serving the everyday legal needs of Floridians. He founded the Law Offices of Michael J. Owen, PLLC, with offices in Valrico, Brandon, Riverview, and Tampa, where he practiced extensively in areas such as family law, real estate, bankruptcy, personal injury, property damage claims, estate planning, and complex business law. His work as an attorney includes representing clients in complex business/real estate matters and property damage matters. He has been a featured speaker on legal topics stemming from his real estate law experience. Mr. Owen is known for his practical, client-centered approach to law. Mr. Owen has handled numerous trials in civil litigation matters, and he is comfortable in the courtroom.

In 2024, Mr. Owen transitioned part of his professional life into public service when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 70, which includes parts of Hillsborough and Manatee counties.

Today, Michael Owen is an associate attorney with the Ligori Law Firm. He continues to balance his legal work with legislative duties, advocating for laws that reflect both his legal expertise and his commitment to the constituents of his district. Mr. Owen is a big supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays, and the USF Bulls. Mr. Owen is a member of the Federalist Society and a former member of the Brandon Rotary.
